Science at Lingham Primary School

At Lingham Primary School we want our curriculum to inspire our learners and foster a real love of learning. Through our Science curriculum we want to inspie pupils' curiosity of the world around them. We believe all pupils should be taught about the role that science plays in positive advancements, as well as scientific knowledge, methods and processes.

With these aims in mind, we have selected an innovative global curriculum called ' Learning Means the World'. Science is taught through thematic units with clear skill and knowledge progression running throughout (see Skills Ladders and Knowledge Builders below). These cross curricular units cover over 90% of the 2014 National curriculum and further topics which are not touched upon in these units are taught in 'Top Up' weeks (see whole school overview below).

We are confident that our chosen curriculum provides a high quality science education to enable our pupils gain a coherent knowledge and learn skills to be able to work scientifically ( through practical investigation, observation and application skills, enquiry and research). Learning takes place both inside and outside the classroom to maximise the opportuniteies to make links to the ever changing world around us.
