Phonics

                  Phonics at Lingham Primary School

At Lingham Primary School we aim to create a rich reading curriculum where children are supported in becoming independent readers. We believe that every child has the right to be literate and to develop a love and passion for reading.  We aim to inspire an appreciation of our rich and varied literary heritage and a habit of reading widely and often.

Phonics is taught through a reading rich curriculum and we are committed to ensuring it is fully inclusive for every child. An explicit and systematic approach using Letters and Sounds ensures that all children achieve and become successful readers and writers.  By learning to read in Early Years and Key Stage One the children are ready to read to learn by Key Stage Two.
