Our Halloween Week, by Miss Painter

Date: 3rd Nov 2016 @ 8:45am

To celebrate Halloween the children dressed up as scary characters and explored the jelly with creepy crawlies.  They created collages using a variety of Halloween themed media, and have been digging for ghoulish treasures to put in the pumpkin buckets.

The mud kitchen!, by Miss Stewart

Date: 2nd Nov 2016 @ 11:26am

We are very fortune in F1 with the amount of outdoor classroom and learning space that is available.

The one area in particular that we love is the mud kitchen!

We have been exploring different imaginative ways to use the mud... mixing potions and making cakes!

We especially enjoy filling buckets of water and making the biggest puddles in the mud and splash in them wearing our wellies.

As long as we're wearing our overalls, we can access the mud kitchen whenever we want!

So if we come home messy and muddy, we're very sorry but we were having so much fun!!

Pancakes for snack..., by Miss Stewart

Date: 2nd Nov 2016 @ 10:27am

Before we broke up for half term we enjoyed a special treat for our snack!

Miss Stewart brought in pancakes and we used knives to spread the butter, they were delicious!

This activity supported the early years curriculum in many ways...

-Physical development- using one handed tools, in this case the knives.

-Health and self-care- acting independently and discussing the different foods that we like and why eating fruit and vegetables is important.

-Communication and language- the children were very enthusiastic about trying something new for our snack which encouraged lots of talk while we were spreading and eating the pancakes.

Twig pictures, by Ms Karpinski

Date: 12th Oct 2016 @ 10:14am

We had lots of fun collecting twigs in our garden.  We then used our twigs to create pictures by dipping them in the paint to make marks.
